Emergency First Aid At Work

This regulated qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within the industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982 and subsequent changes including the latest updates.

Cost

£90 Per Person 6 hour duration.

The recommended course duration is half a day and the topics covered include:

  • Adult resuscitation (CPR)
  • Burns and scalds
  • Choking adult
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory based)
  • Defibrillator pad placement (theory based)
  • Minor and severe bleeding
  • Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Unresponsive adult
  • Assessing an incident.
  • Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness.

The qualification is assessed via on-going oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration. minimum contact hours for this qualification, excluding breaks should be for a minimum period of 6 hours over 1 day as a classroom course. 

This EFAW course meets all of the requirements under the HSE and Awarding Organisations.

All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, detailing their achievement. The HSE dictate, that to be valid in the workplace, learners must retake the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before the expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved. The HSE state that the full Emergency First Aid at Work qualification must be taken again to be valid in the workplace.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.

The HSE strongly recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher course.

Please be advised that the classroom course has a minimum age requirement of 14.

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a TAC Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.
